Local support group ends 2015 on a high

Christmas cheer was in full evidence last week as Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce, Eastbourne Unltd, donated half of the money raised at their Christmas Dinner to local support group WayfinderWoman.

WayfinderWoman, a social enterprise set up by local businesswomen two years ago to support women in the workplace has gone from strength to strength, providing a range of free workshops, training, support and coaching to women in Eastbourne and surrounding areas.

The Chairperson Laura Murphy said, “This donation will make all the difference to the work we can do. We’ve just opened a drop-in advice centre two days a week next to the Hippodrome Theatre and this will help us with our running costs.”

WayfinderWoman will also be celebrating the start of the leap year, by having a super hero fun run New Year, New ME! from Treasure Island to the Wish Tower on Sunday 10 January. Open to women and children, registration is at 9.30am and the run starts at 10.00am.

Laura added, “We’ve been supported in our fundraising by a wonderful group of students from Brighton University, CORS Relations, who have organised the fun run. With its superhero theme, as we go into a leap year, it’s all about celebrating the inner superhero that’s in every woman.”

There’s a £4 entry fee, a prize for the best dressed superhero and every entrant will have a souvenir of the day. Women will be asked to write their hopes for their future and put them in the Wishing Well at Wish Tower.

Places on the New Year New ME! fun run can be booked by phoning 07706 486546, dropping into the WayfinderWoman centre on 5 & 6 January between 10.00am and 3.00pm or by going to the events page on the website www.wayfinderwoman.com.
