PRESS RELEASE – January 2014

Lottery funding builds confidence for women in East Sussex

A group of local business women were celebrating last week as WayfinderWoman was awarded nearly £10,000 from the National Lottery Awards for All programme to run free training and support groups for women in the Eastbourne, Wealden and Rother areas.

Founder Laura Murphy said, “WayfinderWoman has been running support groups for some time and a common theme is that women lack self-confidence which holds them back in business. Even those who appear to be successful at what they do express underlying feelings that somehow they’re ‘not good enough’. Thanks to this lottery funding we’re now able to run the first of what we hope will be a number of events which will help women build their self-confidence.”

Open to women of any age, from any industry or background, the “Step into Confidence” half-day workshops will be held on Wednesday 17 September in Eastbourne and Thursday 18 September in Uckfield. The support groups will be run once a month in Eastbourne, Uckfield and Battle.

WayfinderWoman has made astonishing progress since their community fundraising drive last November and there’s now a thriving website Wayfinderwoman.com and the facebook page Wayfinder Woman which regularly has hints, tips and useful links.

With this Lottery funding they’re hoping that more women will sign up to the courses and support groups. Thanks to the National Lottery WayfinderWoman really is on its way to being THE support community for women in business.

Booking for these free events can be made via their website www.Wayfinderwoman.com
