17-year-old Leoni Miller launches her own candle business after cancer diagnosis.
Leoni Miller was diagnosed in September 2022 with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.
What began as backache and flu-like symptoms, turned into what Leoni has described as a “nightmare” with the cancer surrounding 90% of her torso.
Leoni was placed into an induced coma and underwent six different types of chemotherapy, resulting in missing a crucial year of education, including her GCSE’s, and leaving her with the task of relearning how to walk. Coming out of the coma, Leoni was unable to speak, and her desire to express her gratitude to the medical team led to the creation of her business: LM Thank You Gifts.

“LM Thank You Gifts is not merely a business,” Leoni explains, “it is a tribute to the indomitable human spirit, a testament to my journey.” 5% of all Leoni’s sales are dedicated to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Her candles come in different scents and shapes and serve as a reminder that “even in our lowest ebbs, we can forge paths of light for ourselves and others.”
LM Thank You Gifts will be available to buy on the 26th of April from 10am to 4pm on WayfinderWoman’s “Work and Wellbeing Day” at the Sovereign Harbour Community Centre.
