At WayFinder Woman Trust, we’ve helped hundreds of women work through setback in life and build resilience, allowing them to move forward in various aspects of their life.
But what is resilience and why does it matter?
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity, adapt to change, and persevere in the face of challenges. For many women facing anxiety and uncertainty about their future, building resilience is crucial for overcoming barriers and achieving personal and professional goals.
Resilience is crucial as it helps manage stress and maintain a positive outlook, which is essential for mental health amidst juggling multiple roles and responsibilities. In the workplace, resilience allows us to handle setbacks and pressures more effectively, leading to improved job performance and career advancement. Additionally, resilience fosters self-confidence and the ability to tackle new challenges, promoting continuous personal growth and development.
How as women can we build on our resilience?
Develop a Growth Mindset – Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth rather than threats, transforming how you approach and overcome difficulties, especially in biased environments. View failures not as reflections of your abilities but as valuable learning experiences that contribute to your development.
Strengthen your Support Network – Build strong connections with family, friends, mentors, and peers who understand and support your journey. Don’t hesitate to seek help during tough times, as a strong support system is crucial for resilience and breaking the stigma around seeking support. And always remember our team at Wayfinder Woman are here to support you.
Practice Self Care – Maintain a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and adequate sleep, as physical well-being is vital for mental resilience. Prioritise activities that promote relaxation and mental clarity, such as meditation, mindfulness, or enjoyable hobbies, to manage the unique stresses we often face.
Set Realistic Goals – Consider your goals. Break down larger goals into manageable steps to build confidence and momentum. Maintain a clear vision of your long-term goals for motivation and direction, helping you stay focused during challenging times.
We understand that building resilience takes time and is a continuous process that involves developing a supportive network, maintaining a positive outlook and enhancing your ability to adapt despite what challenges you may face. By focussing on the above strategies, you can work towards building the resilience you need, and look forward to a more confident future.
